   Grand Island Historical Society Open House and Holiday Boutique will be Friday, December 6 - Sunday, December 8, 10am-3pm at River Lea for “Open House and Holiday Boutique”.

   Light Up the Boulevard will be at Grand Island Town Hall, Saturday, December 7th, Visit with Santa 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Parade at 6:00 p.m. Tree lighting after parade.

    The Town of Grand Island cordially invites veterans, family members and friends to attend the Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Park Memorial Wall in Veterans Park, located at 1717 Bedell Road.    The Grand Island VFW Post 9249 and the American Legion Post 1346 are co-producing a documentary on the life of Charles N. DeGlopper, a Medal of Honor recipient, "Charles N. Deglopper: An American Hero". The documentary is scheduled to appear on WNED-TV 17.1 on Veteran's Day, Monday, November 11th at 9:00 p.m. Also: Saturday, November 9, 03:30 pm, Sunday, November 24, 11:05 pm and Friday, November 29, 04:00 am.    On Monday, May 6th, the Town Board is planning to schedule a vote on Local Law #6 of 2023. This law would change our current M1/M2 zoning law to limit the total size of all buildings on a “business campus” to 150,000 square feet and would remove distribution center as a permitted use. If you agree with this law, show your support by signing a petition HERE. You can also show your support by attending the Town Board meeting at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6th.

   The Grand Island PTA Council will host Meet the Candidates Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8.    The Buffalo News reported that deep-discount grocery store Aldi has property under contract to open its first store on Grand Island on the site of a former visitor information center at 1661 Grand Island Boulevard. The existing building will be torn down and rebuilt, and the store will likely open this summer.

   The Grand Island Central School District Board of Education held their General Session Meeting in the Little Theater of Veronica Connor Middle School in Grand Island, NY on Monday January 8, 2024. See VIDEO.

   The Golden Age Center is collecting trial sized or hotel shampoos, conditioners, bath/shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrushes that they use to pack toiletry bags for Friends of Night People. Donations can be dropped off during operating hours Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m., 3278 Whitehaven Road.

    Recovery International is a support group for anyone 18 years of age and older who need help with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, bipolar disorder, anger management, PTSD, and fears of all kinds. Recovery meets every Tuesday from 7 PM- 9 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church.

   Alzheimer's & Dementia Caregivers Support Meeting is at Bible Fellowship Center, 1135 Baseline Road on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. - noon. For information call Jim Pinckney (321-439-6028) or Mary Pinckney (352-217-2311).

   Rotary Club of Grand Island is hosting its annual Undie Sunday 2024 collection between Jan 14 – 21,the collection of new and unused underclothing and socks. There is a particular need for warm socks, T-shirts, men’s underwear, sizes Large, Extra Large and XX Large and all women’s undergarments including leggings. The donated items will be distributed to the Community Mission of Niagara Falls and other missions in the area. Drop off locations.

   The Cinderella Isle Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 6:30 pm at Trinity Church, 2100 Whitehaven Rd, Grand Island, NY. Our meeting will include a dinner of "Crazy Casserole Concoctions" followed by a program by Carol Ann Harlos.
