Community Members collect pledges to shave their heads or significantly cut
their hair with a goal to raise over $57,000 for the 2005 Goin’ Bald for Bucks
Campaign from 7 schools.

WHY: *In 2002, Lakeshore History Teacher, Anthony George’s sister Cathleen
struggled for the 3rd time with cancer. Anthony offered his moral support by
shaving his head and from there the Lakeshore students grew this into a
fundraiser to
benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute in memory of Cathleen
George who succumbed to cancer on March 13, 2004.
* Past 3 yrs.:
Students raised over $72,000 for cancer research & and patient care.
The event has
grown w from 35
participants
to over a 1000, & & from one
classroom to 7
schools across WNY (& plus Buffalo State College).
