Scholarship honors alumnus killed in Iraq

6/11/2005
Niagara University has set up a scholarship fund to honor Lt. Col. Terrence K. Crowe, an alumnus who was killed in Iraq Tuesday while serving with the U.S. Army Reserve's 98th Division.

Crowe, 44, who was from Grand Island, was killed by hostile fire during an offensive in the city of Tal Afar, near the border with Syria, according to Army officials.

He was an assistant professor of military science with the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, or ROTC, at Canisius College before being deployed to Iraq in October.

Crowe is a 1982 graduate of Niagara's College of Business Administration and its ROTC program.

His parents, George and Mary Ann Crowe of Grand Island, and his sister, Margaret Crowe White, also graduated from Niagara.

Contributions to the Terrence Crowe Memorial Scholarship Fund can be made by sending a check made payable to "Niagara University."

The check should note it is for the scholarship fund. Contributions can be sent to Niagara's Office of Advancement Services, P.O. Box 2008, Niagara University, NY 14109.

Credit card donations can be phoned in to 286-8772 or 286-8790.
