Douglas K. Stein
Niagara GazetteDouglas K. Stein, beloved husband of Kim (nee Johnson) quietly passed
away at his Grand Island home on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the young age of
62.
Doug graduated from Williamsville South High School and served in the Army from
1967 to 1969. He was retired from National Grid where he was a Field Tester with
the Meter & Test Dept. Doug was a Captain and avid fisherman; known to many
as Captain Doug of Doug's Charter Fishing Service. He was a past-president of
the Niagara River Anglers Associated, serving for many years, and was
instrumental in the lower Niagara River pen project for trout and salmon as well
as the kid's fishing ponds, the Great Lakes Charter Association, the 3-F Club
where he enjoyed shooting, and the Grand Island Rod & Gun Club.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Myers and is survived by a son, Paul
(Nicole); two daughters, Susan (Paul) Gervasio and Kristen (Tom) Wahl;
stepdaughter, Kari Johnson; grandfather to Courtney and Ryan Myers, Grace
Gervasio, Justin Stein, Tiffani and Belle Doctor and Destany Wahl; brother,
Cliff (Kathi) Stein; and two nephews. Doug also leaves behind his best friend,
Fatso (the cat).
Friends may call Friday 3 - 8 PM at the KAISER FUNERAL HOME, 1950 Whitehaven
Rd., Grand Island, followed by funeral services Friday at 8 PM. Flowers
