cookies:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
milk
1/2 cup sliced almonds, coarsely chopped

frosting:
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3-4 teaspoons milk

1. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large mixer bowl, beat butter or margarine until softened. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and almond extract and beat well. Add flour mixture and beat until well mixed.
2. Divide dough into two equal portions. Form each portion into a 12 inch roll. Place the rolls on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each roll until it is three inches wide. Brush each with a little milk and sprinkle with chopped almonds. Bake in a 325 oven for 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. While still warm, cut crosswise at a diagonal into 1 inch strips. Cool completely on a wire rack.
3. Stir together the powdered sugar, Almond extract, and enough milk to make frosting of drizzling consistency. Drizzle over cooled bars
