Country-Style Chicken



6 carrots, sliced
6 celery stalks, sliced
8 chicken pieces
1 can (10.75 ounce size) cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
***AT END OF COOKING***
1/3 cup white wine or chicken broth
2 teaspoons cornstarch

1. Slice vegetables and place at bottom of crockpot. Arrange chicken pieces on top of vegetables. Season with pepper if desired. Spread undiluted soup over chicken. Sprinkle with dry onion soup mix. DO NOT ADD ANY WATER.
2. Cover and cook on HIGH 3-4 hours or LOW 6-8 hours, or until chicken is done. Stir several times. 10 minutes before serving, mix together the wine and cornstarch until smooth. Remove cover and pour over chicken and stir well. Leave cover off, as this will help sauce to thicken. Stir again and serve over white rice or mashed potatoes.
