Staff ReportsGrand Island’s Joel Klock out-dueled Kenmore East’s Scott Whitehead
on Wednesday in a Niagara Frontier League game Vikings coach Dean Santorio
called one for the ages.
“Probably the best two pitching performances I’ve ever seen,” Santorio
said. “They both pitched their hearts out.”

out 18 batters.
Whitehead also went the distance, striking out 19 and allowing just three hits.
Marvin Pawlowski got two of those hits, including the game-winning solo home run
to right with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Pawlowski also had a double.
Chris Podlucky had the other hit for GI (7-3 overall, 4-0 NFL). East fell to 0-4
in the league.
