Grand Island 7 - Starpoint 6
HS ROUNDUP (April 18): GI baseball nips Spartans
Chris Moody scampered home in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Grand Island to a narrow 7-6 non-league baseball victory over visiting Starpoint Saturday afternoon at Masters Field. Moody scored while the Spartans unsucessfully attempted to tag out Nick Kellner.
Kellner finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two stolen bases, while Joel Klock had an RBI double and Chris Podlucky added an RBI. Brian Brink went the distance for GI (3-2 overall), allowing only four hits and one earned run.
For Starpoint (1-5), Jon Corbi pitched five strong innings and had an RBI single.

Grand Island 10 - Amherst 1
n Late Friday, Podlucky was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and Rob Whalen was 2-for-2 with three RBIs as GI downed Amherst, 10-1. Marv Pawlowski added two hits and an RBI. On the mound, Joel Klock had eight strikeouts in three innings and Tomkins allowed only one hit over four innings of work.
