Brian Brink was 2-for-3 with five RBIs, including a three-run home run, as the Vikins got back on the winning track in NFL play. Also for GI (10-5 overall, 7-2 NFL), Chris Podlucky was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and both Chris Moody and Marv Pawlowski had two hits. Joel Klock threw five innings, allowing five hits, no earned runs and striking out six. For Lew-Port (1-8), Joe Casale was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Matt Cattarin had two hits.

Sean Garten picked up his first career win on varsity,teaming with Steve Boyle at second doubles in the second match of an NFLdoubleheader. Mike Mucci, Korey DiMatteo and Haroon Khawar each won two singles matches for the Vikings (9-4). West is now 0-13.

Shaughn Irving scored the lone tally for Grand Island, which fell in Class B action. Also for GI (5-7 overall, 3-5 Class B), goalkeeper Jon Anderson made 12 saves. Kyle Piekarec scored two goals for West Seneca West (6-4, 3-4).

Greg Feathers was victorious in the shot put and discus for the Vikings, who moved to 4-0 in the NFL. Also for GI, Evan Tsembelis won the 800 and was on the winning 3,200 relay quartet. For the Falls (3-1), Durelle Crittenden won the 110 high hurdles and 400 intermediate hurdles. Brian Archie took the long jump and triple jump.

Mary Chiaravalle (400, pole vault) and Jenna Raepple (long jump, triple jump) lifted the Vikings to a 4-0 mark in the NFL. Rahsanica Ford took both the shot put and discus for GI. Jazlyn Porter won the 800 and was part of the winning 400 relay team for the Falls (1-3).

Joe Fischer scored the Vikings only goal with Mitch Stessing throwing in the assist in a non-league loss. Zack Malecki scored two goals with two assists for Lancaster (4-8).
“We’re in a funk,” GI coach Steve Steck said of his 5-8 team. “But we’re working. I got about 12 text messages from the guys telling me tomorrow is going to be a good practice.”
