The Vikings built up a 35-0 halftime lead and won their fourth in a row as Andy LaLonde went wild at Homecoming. The senior tailback rushed 14 times for a career-high 203 yards and three touchdowns in the non-league win.
Also for GI (4-3 overall), which will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Williamsville South in the Class A quarterfinals, Pat Gallagher added six carries for 69 yards and a score. He also scored on a 92-yard connection with quarterback Joel Klock, who finished 5-for-7 passing for 150 yards. Fullback Brett Dlugosz, who scored twice on short dive plays, led the GI defense with 14 tackles and a sack. Tygue Busch added 12 stops and Scott Rogers had nine tackles.
For Lew-Port (3-4), Paul Magers had a touchdown run and Matt Cattarin found Devon Amado for a score.

After a one-year hiatus, the Niagara Frontier League girls title is back where it sat for nearly a decade - with the Grand Island Vikings. Jenna Raepple had a pair of goals for the Vikings, who improved to 13-1 overall and 12-0 in the league with a 2-0 league-clinching win over Niagara Wheatfield on Thursday (Oct. 15) Jennie Taylor played well on the backline and Liz Lorence had both assists. Kristin Wegrzyn and Sara Palazza split the shutout. GI leads Kenmore West by two games with two to play, but swept the season series from the Blue Devils. The Vikings held the crown for nine years until last season, when Kenmore West won it. N-W fell to 6-7-1 overall and 4-7-1 in the NFL.

Banker put the Vikings (12-2-1, 11-1-1 NFL) ahead on a free kick in the 50th minute, and then extended the lead with a long shot in the 72nd minute. Figler made five saves for his 12th shutout of the season. His 10 shutouts in league play is an NFL record, Vikings coach Peter Kuehne said. The Bulldogs are 6-7 in the NFL.

Nick Masiello of Grand Island came in first place with a time of 17:33 against Kenmore West and North Tonawanda at Bond Lake No. 1 on Tuesday, giving the Vikings a 7-0 record and the Niagara Frontier League regular season cross country crown.
GI beat NT 15-50 and topped Ken West 16-47. West beat the Jacks 15-50
Jared Quinn finished in second for NT (0-7) and Tom Zwick was the top finisher for West (2-5), placing sixth. Jason Chadwick, Brendon Lutnick and Cyle Alcorn were 3-4-5 for GI.

Ayla Marino had a top time of 21:40 to lead Grand Island to a pair of NFL wins at Bond Lake NO. 1. Amber Spiesz, Maggie DeMarco and Angelina Howe held spots two through four for the Vikings (6-1). Renee Abbott was fifth for West (2-5) while April Maziarz ran well for the Lady Jacks (3-4).
