Islettes
at National Baton Twirling Championships
The
Islettes Elite All Star National Team traveled to South Bend, Indiana to the
University of Notre Dame to compete in the 5-day national baton twirling
championships, America's Youth on Parade (AYOP). After months of practice and
fundraising, the team of 19 made Grand Island, NY
proud by receiving over 50 medals and plaques in various group and individual
categories as well as team placing. The team was accompanied by their coach,
Miss Heidi Sue Mumm, along with a dozen chaperones. The team consisted of
Islanders Alissa Bailey, Laura Dolan, Alyssa Fuoco, Emily Fuoco, Shelbi Milkas,
Anna Nicolia, Stefani Rhodes,
Joelle-yvette Scheffler, Emelie-jo Scheffler, Rebecca Sobol, Beth Wynne and
Molly Wynne as well as Katrina Buczkowski, Maddy Buczkowski, Jenna Demer,
Samantha Kenyon, Heather Murray, Colin Stutz, and Leah Stutz.

Islettes Elite team members Alissa Bailey, Maddy Buczkowski
and Jenna Demer represented New York in the Miss Majorette of America
competition in their respective age groups and levels, competing in modeling
(with interview), X-strut and twirling. Jenna received 7th place overall and
placed in both modeling and X-strut and Alissa was awarded 5th place in pageant
modeling.
