American Legion Thanks Supporters - May 2018

The Grand Island Post 1346 of the American Legion sends their thanks to all who supported the Mother's Day Hanging Basket Plant Sale. Your support allows the American Legion to continue work for veterans and the community.
The work on the DeGlopper Memorial Park Expansion is progressing slowly due to the lack of funding. The group was anticipating some funding from the Greenway Commission but was disappointed when they did not approve the grant. On to plan "B", the committee will continue to hold fund raisers to complete this worthy project to completion. The public is welcome to purchase a paver in memory of a Veteran here. The officers and members of the American Legion thanks all for their support!

American Legion Donates Nine Flagpoles - May 2018

Placing one of the 25' flagpoles at DeGlopper Memorial Park.

Group of DeGlopper Memorial Park Expansion Committee members and local veterans.

The DeGlopper Memorial Park Expansion took a big step forward on Tuesday, May 8th as nine flagpoles were installed on the park grounds. Eight 25' flagpoles will fly service flags. The one 35' center flag will fly the American Flag. The park expansion had a major letdown recently as the Greenway Commission did not choose the project for one of their grants. Everyone is invited to participate by purchasing a paver. The paver can feature a family name, a memorial to anyone, not just veterans. Paver's are $175 and make a wonderful family legacy. See paver form.
