Successful "Make a Graham Cracker House" - December 2013
On Saturday, December 14th over 100 children and parents enjoyed making Graham Cracker Houses with Explore and More, A Children's Museum. This event has been held annually at the Grand Island Memorial Library beginning in December 2004.

The Grand Island Memorial Library announces special holiday hours. The library will be closed on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Senator Grisanti Provides Bullet Grant - August 2013

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti brought good news to local libraries in July when he announced $128,000 in grants through the "Bullet Aid" targeted education fund for libraries. He stopped by the Grand Island Memorial Library on Monday, September 23rd for a tour. Islander Sheryl Knab, the Executive Director of WNY Library Resources Council (WNYLRC) was on hand to show Senator Grisanti and Councilman Dick Crawford progress on a regional digitization program that digitized the Dispatch weekly newspaper for the years from 1989 - 2008. WNYLRC is a member-driven organization that helps libraries build connections with each other, library users, and the larger community. Karlen Chase works with the digitization program and gave a tutorial on how the program works.Book Club For Teens - September 2013

The Grand Island Memorial Library is sponsoring a book club for adults. Books will be selected by members, keeping in mind their appeal to a diverse group of readers. Selections will be readily available in the library system. Summer Reading Celebration
The Grand Island Memorial Library presented the Niagara University Repertory Theatre on Tuesday, August 13th for the children in the "Rookie Reader" program. On August 15th the "Summer Reading Celebration" was held and over 40 children enjoyed face painting, ice cream, crafts and a performance by Charlie and Checkers.Niagara University Repertory Theatre Visit - August 2013

The Grand Island Memorial Library Summer Program has been very well attended. On Thursday, July 18th a magic show was presented by Paul Antonio and had over 130 children and adults in attendance. On July 24, 2013 a puppet show was presented by the Omni Puppet Theater, with 90 children and adults in attendance. As part of this event, the library held a Hug Your Library Program which was attended by Grand Island Supervisor Mary Cooke and County Legislator Kevin Hardwick. The event promoted library services. Funding for both programs was provided by the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library's 175th Gala Anniversary celebration.

Gravitational Bull Entertains 100+ - April 2013
The father-and-son team of professional jugglers, "Gravitational Bull" entertained over 100 children and parents on Wednesday, April 3rd at the GI Memorial Library. Dave and Kyle Fultz are WNY residents and have been performing in the Western and Central New York areas for the past several years. In addition to juggling, "Gravitational Bull" performances usually contain magic, comedy, balloon twisting, story telling, ball & plate spinning and balancing.
