Beginning Monday, August 2nd masks/facial coverings will be required while visiting the Grand Island Memorial Library regardless of vaccination status for anyone over the age of 2.

Marshmallow Pops Workshop - November 2021

    Saturday, November 27, Noon - Ages 12 and up, Teens, Adults, Seniors
    Presenter: Kathleen Rumfola. Kathleen will teach participants the basics of how to create and package gourmet marshmallow pops to enjoy and give as gifts. Each participant will make three pops. Registration is required. Please call 773-7124.




Brain Games - December 2021

    Theresa Wiater will present engaging logic puzzles and games to keep your brain sharp. Ages 8 and up. Adults, Seniors, Teens, Families....All are welcome. Session 1- Saturday, December 4th at 3:30 pm - Participants will need a pencil and a clipboard or something to write on to play the games. Conductive Construction - November 2021

   Saturday, November 13, 3:30 pm
   Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum - Family Friendly - Students will learn about electricity and how it relates to the carrousel. They will participate in a workshop using squishy circuits to learn about closed and open circuits. Students will use conductive play dough to experiment with circuits in groups. Travelling Museum - October 2021

    Saturday, October 9, 3:30 pm
   Melissa Kate: Erie Canal Workshop - A Day in the Life of the Erie Canal. Kids are guided through a "day in the life" of a person living near the Erie Canal in its early days. They are asked to observe artifacts and use those observations to uncover the stories the artifacts tell. The museum guide crafts the stories of the artifacts into an engaging and educational experience, while the students touch, hold, and explore the artifacts and their role in history. Disc Golf Kits Available - July 2021

    Disc Golf Kits available for 7 day checkout. Each kit includes: Three discs: 1 driver, 1 mid-range, 1 putter; One information sheet with directions to the Veterans' Park disc golf course and borrower information; QR codes with links to information on game play. Library News - June 2021

    Masks/Facial Coverings will be optional for anyone who is fully vaccinated while in the library beginning Wednesday, June 16th. Anyone who is not fully vaccinated is asked to continue to wear a facial covering: while in the library or while attending outdoor programs at the library. As further guidance from the state is received, updates will be shared.



Summer Bike Raffle - June 2021

Circus Arts for All! - June 2021

   Circus Arts for All! with Benjamin Berry - Tuesday, July 6th, 1:00pm Registration is required. Masks required for participants 2 and older. In this program, participants will learn how to use a variety of accessible circus arts including juggling scarves/balls, hula hoops, poi, and spinning plates. We will provide props, but if you have your own props from previous programs, please feel free to bring them!

   The Grand Island Memorial Library and the Orange Poppy Art Studio are teaming up this summer to bring outdoor art classes to the community! Family Yoga - June 2021

    This summer, join Donna Baia from Kidding Around Yoga for some fun-filled, socially distanced outdoor family yoga classes for you & your children ages 4-11. There will be music, games on your mats, storytelling with yoga poses, partner poses, and lots of joy and laughter as we practice yoga together! No prior yoga experience is needed. All are welcome! Participants must sign up for each week of yoga. Adult participation is required. Space is limited to 1 child and 1 caregiver. Please bring a mat or towel for both of you. Masks are required for all participants.

Library Operation Information - January 2021

   The Grand Island Memorial Library will be offering curbside service only the week of 1/4/21 to 1/8/21.
    Whether or not the library is open is dependent on the Erie County Dept. of Health's weekly report of new positive COVID cases in the 14072 zip code per 100,000 people in a 7-day period. If the number is over 70, then we can only offer curbside service. This week's report was 72.2 cases in 14072. Today's report can be found here.
    For your information, our Micro-Cluster reopening plan is here and outlines how the Grand Island Memorial Library will operate in Red, Orange, and Yellow Zone status.




Library Curbside Pick-Up - January 2021

    Due to the NYS Micro Cluster Orange Zone status for this area, the Grand Island Memorial Library will be open for curbside pick-up. Curbside pick-up hours will be: Monday 12-8, Tuesday 12-8, Wednesday 9-, Thursday 9-5, Friday 9-5.

    The hold system is still active and any available holds can be picked up using curbside service. Before placing a hold, it is recommended for patrons to check the online catalog for available items at www.buffalolib.org.
    While under Orange Zone status, the drop box will remain open. All returned materials are subject to a 96 hour (or 4 day) quarantine. Items will be back dated to their date of return once they come off quarantine. For questions, please call 773-7124 during curbside pick-up hours.
