Teen Basketball at Kaegebein - December 2022
Grand Island Recreation Department is offering Teen Basketball on Tuesday nights in January from 6:00pm - 7:00pm at Kaegebein gym for ages 13 - 15. Registration is open. The deadline for Coaches to register and pay for their Team for: Men’s Basketball (Nov.1); Women’s Volleyball (Nov. 2); Men’s Volleyball (Nov.3).All Team Registration deadline dates are final. Registration must be made via the Rec Website only. (http://grandislandny.myrec.com/) No other format will be accepted. Team fees must be paid in full on or before the deadline date to qualify to be on the game schedule. A minimum of 4 teams are required to play in the league. Anticipated games are to start the week of Nov 8th . Notifications and schedules will be posted on or before the end of the day on Nov. 7 th .
If a coach is also a player, on that team, then the coach must also register as a player to be on the official online roster. Coaches will have access to view their online roster, to ensure they have enough players and are officially registered. Player registration is open and is FREE. The deadline for players to complete the online registration is after the 3rd scheduled game. Player registration deadline is 4pm: BB Nov. 29, W-VB Dec. 7, and M-VB Dec. 8, 2022. Recreation Department Winter Programs - August 2022
Opening registration for Youth Winter Programs opens Monday, October 3rd at 8:00 a.m. for residents and Monday, October 10th at 8:00 a.m. for non-residents.Youth Programs that will open on October 3rd for registration: Floor Hockey; Toddler Time; Yoga; Teen Trips; Come & Create Winter; Come & Create Holiday; February Break; Open gym; Basketball; Holiday Happenings.

Recreation Department Fishing Clinics - May 2022
The GI Recreation Department is excited to announce two upcoming fishing clinics to help get you ready for the summer fishing season and beyond. These clinics are run by Grand Island resident and owner of River Master Charters, Captain Ted Kessler. Registration is open now! Pre-Registration is required. See FLYER.1 Day Clinic - Thursday, May 5, 6:00-7:30 p.m. - Community Center at Nike Base - FREE!
Our 1 day fishing clinic is for participants of all ages (please note, anyone 12 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 18 or older). It will feature equipment selection, fishing techniques and other tips and tricks and time to pick the brain of Captain Ted. This is a great opportunity whether you're just learning to fish or have been fishing for a while and are looking to fine tune your skills.
2 Day Youth Clinic - May 18 AND May 19 - 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Community Center at Nike Base (first day); second day is shore fishing (location TBD). $10.00 res.; $20.00 non-res.
Our 2 day youth clinic is for children ages 8-17 years old. We will start with instruction, tips, tricks and casting practice at the Community Center. The second day will be fishing from shore at a location that Captain Ted selects on Grand Island. The location will be given at the first class. This class is run by Captain Ted and supported with Recreation Department staff.
Important: NYS DEC Regulations - anyone 16 or older must have a valid NYS fishing license. Fishing licenses can be purchased at Town Hall or most sporting goods stores.
