September 15             Kevin Kresse, editor-in-chief of the new newsmagazine, News From Below, a Buffalo native now in North Carolina and long-time progressive activist, speaks on "Media Activism and Democratic Idealism in the Age of Globalization," describing the motivation, inspiration, and vision underlying the launching of News From Below.

September 22             Growing in the Spirit: Shirley Chan helps us explore our life's purpose(s) using Caroline Myss' book, Sacred Contracts. 

 

September 29             Nathan Stock, "Injustice and Responsibility in Palestine," a report on the realities of the situation on the ground in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.  Nathan headed to Palestine in March of 2000, where he taught English in the Gaza Strip for a year before working with a local NGO, the Palestinian Center for Helping Resolve Community Disputes.  He left Palestine at the end of June of this year.  He has also taught in China; he has a BA degree in international relations from Colgate University.

October 13                  Dr. David Johnson, "Himalayan Health Care," a report with slides on this 10-year-old project to provide health care to people in the mountain areas of Nepal; includes building a hospital and training health care providers there.

 

October 20                  Rev. David Selzer, Ann Miller, & perhaps Hannah & Rachel Miller-Selzer, "Reflections on a Journey to Jerusalem."  Rev. Selzer, Chair of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship and pastor at Church of the Good Shepherd on Jewett Parkway in Buffalo, traveled to Jerusalem this year with his family on a sabbatical.
