Oct 14             Rev. Bruce McKay, “Doing Justice.”  Michael Eric Dyson says that "justice is what love  sounds like when it speaks in public." Congregation-based community organizing creates the  opportunity for congregations to hear and respond to a God whose passion for love and justice    propels people of faith into public life. Rev. Dr. M. Bruce McKay has been the pastor of Pilgrim-St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Buffalo, NY for the last 18 years.  For the prior 10 years he served the Church of the Living Hope in East Harlem.  He is the founding President   and current Co-President of VOICE-Buffalo, an affiliate of the Gamaliel Foundation on whose national staff he served for 7 years; he is the founding organizer for Lockport-area VOICE and the Niagara Organizing Alliance for Hope (NOAH) in Niagara County.

Oct 21             Arts & Climate Change Follow-Up:  “Green Is The New Red, White, & Blue” (DVD)                     The DVD is from the Regeneration Project of Interfaith Power & Light.  We’ll share our ideas generated at the August 15th gathering as well as any new ones we have regarding the Arts &   Climate Change.

 

Oct 28             Jim Whitlock, "Bethlehem Travels: Healing the Stone" - An informal presentation by Jim Whitlock on his fourth and longest working visit to Palestine to promote, develop and support meaningful public-benefit projects, medical applications in particular, that are based on next-generation Internet videoconferencing.  Jim will show slides of his work and travels in the West Bank and Gaza, including his time with Sr. Kathie Uhler and the Christian Peacemaker Team in the old city in Hebron.  This project has also recently been extended to include less extensive but related efforts in Nepal.
