July 9              A Berry Merry Multi-sensory Summer Celebration with Carol Alt.  Please bring

                        1 cup of local berries, rhubarb, etc.  Jon Rieley-Goddard will also update us on "local                                  eating.”

 

July 16                        Making Music with Cathy Rieley-Goddard and Carol Alt.  Bring recorders, kazoos,                                     guitars, or we will have some for you to use.  Be surprised at what sweet sounds we can                         create!

 

July 23                        Moving into Stillness:  The Promise and Practice of Yoga by Carolyn Morell.  Explore the                   philosophy of hatha yoga through conversation and experience the benefits of yoga through                 practice of various stretches and postures.  Through movement and relaxation, we can shed                       everyday stresses and experience our capacity for peace and contentment.  Practice time will be               approximately one hour.  Bring a yoga mat or blanket and wear comfortable non-restrictive               clothing.  Carolyn Morell, a lifelong social worker, teaches yoga at the Himalayan Institute in                     Buffalo, New York. 

 

July 30                        “Greens and Grains” with Jordana Geist, who will introduce us to Quinoa, Amaranth,                                 Barley, Buckwheat, Millet, Oats, Kale, Collards, Mustard, Beet and Turnip Greens, Spinach,                        Swiss Chard, Bok Choy, Napa, Broccoli Rabe, Cabbage, Watercress, Seaweed and more!  To                     this cooking/tasting/nutrition demo, bring an appetite for tasting and learning about some of the                   world's most versatile and nutritious foods.  Jordana is a holistic health counselor and a Reiki                    master, with a degree in journalism & 25 years of experience writing about food, health, and                         wellness.

August 13            Storytelling with Diane Evans:  Diane will tell stories and involve us in storytelling activities.                      Bring your imaginations!  Diane is a member of Spin-A-Storytellers and has been telling stories               for many years.

 

August 20            Eveline Hartz leads a roundtable discussion on preserving foods.  Join us for        a nice relaxed                         evening:  Bring your recipes and share how you freeze, preserve, can, pickle, dry your harvests.                       Enjoy some wine, cheese, breads.

 

August 27            Sharing Our Talents:  Roger Cook and Carol Alt will present their art and new book, Up               Above and Down Below, as Jon Rieley-Goddard presents ideas for a community anthology.

 

August 31            June & Roger’s 28th annual Labor SUNDAY potluck-picnic: 1515 West River Road, Grand             Island, 2 – 6 p.m.  Music, volleyball, boating, great food & folks!  All welcome. 773-1426.
