March 2            BUSINESS MEETING

 

March 8            A Training to Stand in Solidarity with Immigrants, 12-4 p.m., at the Network of Religious                                  Communities,1272 Delaware, Buffalo.  Info/reservations:  894-2013. 

                        Also: International Women’s Day – shop at Ten Thousand Villages (5596 Main St.) – 15% of                         this day’s profits will go to women’s groups.

 

March 9            Cliff Cawthon, “Behind the Blockade.”  Cliff accompanied Pastors for Peace on its                            caravan to Cuba last year (with a little financial assistance from our             Peace Education                    Fund) and will report on what he saw and learned.

 

March 16            Rev. Kay Woike, “Global Missions of the UCC/DC.”   Kay is currently the Interim                                    Moderator of the Western Area UCC.  She will focus on the variety of mission possibilities                 available.

 

March 19            The Iraq War Ends Here: 5 Year Anniversary of the Invasion.  City-wide Caravan.  Speakers                      include             Geoff Millard, Iraq Veterans Against the War.  (WNY Peace Center: 894-2013)

April 7             Fr. Joe Bissonette Latin America Dinner featuring George Mische, of the Catonsville 9, 6:00                 p.m.  Tickets $15/20 Person - Canisius High School, 1180 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo

 

April 12            Release of “PeacePrints: Sr. Karen’s Paths to Nonviolence” from 2-4 p.m. at the Sr. Karen             Klimczak Center for Nonviolence, 80 Durham, Buffalo.

 

April 13            Jordana Geist, Healthy Chocolate.  Jordana will teach us all about the wondrous cocoa bean                 and bring lots of delightful desserts for the potluck (so please bring non-dessert dishes).

 

                        2:00 p.m. – “Dead Man Walking” Play at Buffalo Academy of Visual & Performing Arts, 450                      Masten             Avenue; $10/$5 students & seniors.

                        5:00 p.m. Benefit dinner for Sr. Karen Center featuring Sr. Helen Prejean, Ephesus Ministries,                    80 Durham Avenue, Buffalo.
