Feb. 16             Colin O'Malley: Report on the World Social Forum, which he recently attended in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

 

Feb. 22                  Area Meeting of WNY Churches in Covenant: 9-3, St. Matthews UCC, S-5289 McKinley Pkwy, Hamburg, featuring Justice & Witness Ministries, WNY Peace Center, Network of Religious Communities (WNYCIC for info: 886-2634).

 

                                Environmental Ministries Network, 9-12 a.m., Parish Hall, Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware; Speaker:  Dr. Arthur Michalek of Roswell Park Cancer Institute on "Our Health and the Environment."  Continental breakfast provided ($5.00); tables for display/resource sharing. Feb. 23             Bill Marx reports on his trip to Iraq with Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT): Bill is witnessing against the U.S. plans for war in Iraq by being present with ordinary Iraqi children, women, and men in places such as schools, hospitals, and other facilities that promote day-to-day life. Mr. Marx is former (now retired) President of the Better Business Bureau of WNY and Manager of Member Relations for the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce and is a member of Pax Christi.

Mar. 7                     World Day of Prayer: Focus on Women of Lebanon, GI Trinity UMC, 10:00 a.m.

 

Mar. 9              International Women's Day Program: Julia Hall, Counsel for the Europe and Central Asia Division of Human Rights Watch, will discuss how a war in Iraq and counter-terrorism measures affect women.

 

Mar. 16             Jean Dickson, Marilyn & Keith Woodin, David Stanton: MUSIC, acoustic & eclectic--gospel, bluegrass, old-time, folk, country, Celtic, blues, swing, or jazz via fiddle, mandolin, guitar, accordion, autoharp, banjo.  SPIRITS SOAR!

 

Mar. 23             Jim Mang, "War Tax Resistance."  Jim Mang is active with St. Joseph's RC Church on Main St. near UB and is former director of the WNY Peace Center.
