Undie Sunday - Nov. 2011

The Grand Island Rotary Club recently held its "Undie Sunday" collection of much needed new, packaged men's, women's, children's and infants' under garments and socks to be distributed to the men and women at Buffalo City Mission and Corner Stone Manor. Rotarians set up a donation center on Sunday, November 20 at Tops to accept these items from the many who stopped by to drop off their contributions. During the week, donations were also being accepted at several locations on the Island.
Undie Sunday - November 20, 2011
The Rotary Club of Grand Island is promoting its annual Undie Sunday drive and will collect new, packaged men's, women's, children's and infants under garments and socks for the Corner Stone Manor and Buffalo City Mission. Rotary members will have a collection tent in Tops Plaza parking lot on Sunday, November 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For pick-up contact Angelo Palamuso, 773-5433 (Apalamuso@roadrunner.com) or any other Rotary member. Monetary donations are also appreciated for both the City Mission and Corner Stone Manor.
9th Annual Lobsterfest - 2011
The Grand Island Rotary Club will be hosting its 9th Annual Lobsterfest on Friday, June 10th from 6:00 p.m. - ?, at the Buffalo Launch Club. Tickets are $85.00 and include, Maine lobster, clam chowder, beef on weck, salads and vegetables, dessert, coffee/tea, beer, wine and soft drinks. Live music and dancing will begin at 9:00 p.m. This event sells out every year so don't wait to get your tickets. You can purchase tickets at the Grand Island Chamber office, Island Prescription Center and Key Bank.

The Rotary Club of Grand Island, with the help of the GIHS PTSA, honored their choice for Student's of the Year at a banquet this past Friday evening. Among the students honored for their service, academics, and extracurriculars were seniors Brooke Chamberlain and Katheen Rustowicz. Brooke is the daughter of Gregory and Cheryl Chamberlain and Kathleen is the daughter of Kevin and Maura Rustowicz.Rotary Donates $50,000 To Miracle League Field - 2011

The Grand Island Rotary Club has committed $50,000 to the Miracle League of Grand Island and WNY for the adaptive baseball/softball diamond planned for Veterans Park. The Rotary has donated $25,000 for the initial building of the diamond, and will continue to donate $2,500 each year, for ten years for maintenance. Groundbreaking for the project is scheduled for Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park.
