Adam Ruiz, 30, of Staley Road, was sentenced by Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio on his plea to a felony attempted robbery charge for the holdup of the Burger King on Grand Island Boulevard last Jan. 6.

Prosecutor James F. Bargnesi noted a Burger King cashier said she almost fainted last Jan. 11 when she recognized Ruiz, who had robbed her of $231 on Jan. 6. Ruiz had returned to the restaurant to train for a grill job five days after the robbery, the prosecutor said.
