Academic Achievement Improves at Grand Island

Almost four years ago, the Board of Education identified improving academic achievement as an overarching, long-term goal for the District.  This week we received substantial evidence that we are achieving this goal.

Ø      The District continued to move up the Buffalo Business First list – from 16th last year to 12th this year!

Ø      Buffalo Business First also reports that all schools improved their ranking compared to last year~

ü     Kaegebein moving from 65th to 53rd;

ü     Huth moving from 73rd to 67th;

ü     The Middle School breaking into the Top 10, moving up one spot from 11th to 10th; and,

ü     The High School moving up seven spots, now ranking 25th in WNY.

The high school was also recently recognized as a “Top 1000 High School” by Newsweek based on the number of advanced placement exams taken by our students.

While our administrators, teachers, and support staff deserve a lot of the credit for improving student achievement, this would not have been possible without ongoing support from the Board of Education, parents, and community.  Thank you to ALL who help to make higher student achievement a reality!
