GRAND ISLAND SOCCER CLUB “HOUSE” REGISTRATION

The Grand Island Soccer Club “House” League (July-August) provides basic instruction and is intended to be a “FUN” league promoting fair play, good sportsmanship and teamwork for youth ages 5 – 15. A “Travel” league (May-July) is offered for a more competitive environment with try-outs held in September.

Registration for the “House” league is happening now. Registration forms must be postmarked by March 15. Forms have been distributed to all Grand Island Schools and previous players. Registration forms are also available at the Library, at the Town Recreation Department or online at www.gisoccerclub.org .

You may mail in your Registration form along with a check or sign up in person at the G.I. Library Meeting Room on Thursday, March 2 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. or Saturday, March 11 from 10:00 am – 2:00 p.m. First time GISC players must provide a copy of birth certificate.

The Registration Fee is $45 for U6 and $55 for U7 through U15. GISC travel players must send in a “House” registration form with $30 indicating the house age group they wish to play in. Travel players are encouraged to play up an age group. Customized GISC soccer balls are available for $8.00 on the registration form.

The House league season is July and August. U6 games are played on Saturday mornings and one weekday evening. U7 – U12 play games on Saturday mornings plus one weekday evening game in August. U15 play games Sunday evening plus one weekday evening game in August.

Each player receives a team shirt, shorts and socks. Every child must wear shin guards at games and practices. Sneakers or (optional) soccer shoes are needed. All players need to bring a soccer ball to games and practices.

Teams are in divisions by birthdate. No one can play in a younger age group. The fee is based on the age group the player is playing, NOT their birthdate.

Coaches and Assistant Coaches are needed. No experience necessary – we will train with clinics. We have over 70 House teams. Coach volunteers will be contacted after registration. The first coaches’ clinic will be held in early/mid April.

We need all kinds of volunteers – such as Picnic Committee workers, 4^th of July Parade committee, professional advisors, house league coordinators, etc. Check page 2 of the registration form. We always need extra hands to help with administrative tasks as well. These could be tasks such as mailing lists, planning clinics, paperwork, representing the club at meetings, etc. If you are interested in the administration of the Club, come to any Board Meeting, held on the second Monday at the Library Meeting Room at 6:30 p.m.

We currently have openings for a U10 Age Group Coordinator and a U12/15 Referee Coordinator. Also, we will have openings for House League Coordinator and Registrar next year, so if you would be interested in either of these positions, you could work with the current coordinators this year.
