Grand Island Girls Soccer Team Wins Tournament
From Sept. 18, 2005 Buffalo News
Two of the top soccer teams in Western New York met in the eight-team Niagara Catholic Tournament with three-time defending sectional champion Grand Island taking a 3-1 decision from defending Monsignor Martin Association champion Nardin. Jessica Remmes had two goals, giving her six this season. Kathy Rogers scored the other goal.
Williamsville North found that it fared evenly with Aquinas, one of Rochester's best teams. The Spartans (2-1-2) got goals from Hillary Jacobson and Carrie Mallison in a 2-2 tie with the Little Irish, who lost to Grand Island in last year's Far West regionals.
