Niagara Frontier League: Brett Kern scored nine of his 14 points in the second half to push Grand Island away from Lewiston Porter, 64-47. Three other Vikings were in double figures - Mike Feathers (14 points), John Colosi (13 points, four steals, four assists) and Nick Rossi (11 points) - as Grand Island dominated the second half after being tied, 24-24, at the break. Nate Tompkins and Derek Tracey each scored 11 for the Lancers.

Spartan Invitational: Hans Warner of Williamsville South upset the No. 1 seed at 125 pounds and earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler award at the second annual event held at Williamsville North. West Seneca West won the title title for the second consecutive year. At 103, Dennis Brown of Lake Shore, ranked No. 2 last week in Western New York, turned back top-ranked Justin Walp of Lew-Port, 7-2. Jeremy Roberts of Grand Island surpassed 100 career wins during the event.
