A regular meeting of the Town Board of Grand Island, New York was held at the Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Rd., Grand Island, NY at 8:00p.m. on the 16th of April 2007.

COMMUNICATIONS – TOWN BOARD:

Historic Preservation Advisory Board

The Historic Preservation Committee is appointed by the Supervisor. The committee has been in existence for a number of years and has focused its efforts on a historic preservation law. 

There is a proposal to change the Historic Preservation Committee to a Historic Preservation Advisory Board. The purpose of the board would be to preserve and promote the natural beauty, rich heritage, and history of Grand Island and its people.

The Board would consist of four at-large members, two representatives from the GI Historical Society, and the Town Historian. 

At-large members will be appointed by the Town Board for four-year terms. Historical Society representatives will be appointed by the Society for two-year terms. The Town Historian, appointed by the Town Board, would serve a one-year term.

 

A motion was made by Councilwoman Cooke, seconded by Councilman Crawford to create a Historic Preservation Advisory Board with membership as follows:

Request for Re-Divide Existing Residential Parcels – Mr. Perri/Mr. Saj – Webb Road

A motion was made by Councilman Roesch, seconded by Councilman Crawford to approve the request to re-divide existing residential parcels owned by Mr. Perri and Mr. Saj for moving property lines located on Webb Road subject to the property owners providing evidence satisfactory to the Town Attorney that new deeds are filed with the Erie County Clerk’s office.

A motion was made by Councilwoman Cooke, seconded by Councilman Roesch to set a Public Hearing for Monday, May 7, 2007 at 8:00p.m. for the purpose of hearing anyone who wanted to make comments in favor or in opposition to the proposed Final Plat Approval for Island Landings Subdivision #103, Phase 1 (4 lots).

A motion was made by Councilwoman Cooke, seconded by Councilman Crawford to authorize the Recreation Director to purchase a 2007 Ford F 150XI off the State Bid at a total cost of $13,608.00.  The funds are available in the 2007 budget.

Summer Hires

A motion was made by Councilman Roesch, seconded by Councilman Crawford to authorize the Recreation Director to hire the following returning personnel for Part-time Seasonal Maintenance effective April 23, 2007 at the following rate change:

Part-time Seasonal, 40 hours/week for 20 weeks:

       Mike Cole and Shaun Quinn from $9.15 to $10.00 per hour.

       Neil Hoffman from $8.92 to $9.15 per hour.
