Three people were rescued Sunday evening by the Grand Island Fire Company after the boat they were in ran aground in the Niagara River and began taking on water, fire officials reported.
The incident occurred at about 8 p. m. The boaters became stranded near the Tonawanda water intake across from the Grand Island Holiday Inn. The fire company marine unit picked them up and took them to the Niagara County sheriff’s boat that had responded. No injuries were reported.
