Construction work on the South Grand Island Bridges will take a holiday over the Fourth of July weekend.
The State Thruway Authority reports that contractors will suspend operations on both of the south bridges from next Friday morning until the evening of July 6.
Before the holiday weekend arrives, the northbound bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday so contractors can continue replacing decking on the bridge. The southbound bridge will be reduced to one lane from 10 p. m. Thursday to 6 a.m. next Friday for work on guardrails.
