A Grand Island resident who installed surveillance cameras outside her home following a previous burglary used the video to help catch a man accused of breaking into the home Wednesday, Erie County sheriff’s officials said.
The burglar entered a Grand Island Boulevard home through the bathroom window and took about $400 worth of electronic equipment.
While reviewing the surveillance tape with Detectives Dennis Fitzgibbons and James Hatch, the resident recognized the man.
The detectives arrested Albert Cannata, 33, at his Bedell Road residence on Grand Island and charged him with second-degree burglary. He was sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $10,000 bail.
