Grand Island man arrested in girlfriend’s assault
A Grand Island man is facing multiple charges for allegedly beating up his girlfriend Friday night, Erie County sheriff’s officials said.
At 7:30 p. m., deputies responded to a call about a domestic disturbance on Grand Island Boulevard. They found that a woman had been punched, poked, pinched, choked and threatened by her boyfriend. She suffered numerous cuts, scratches, abrasions, bruises and swelling of her right eye, officials said.
An investigation led authorities to arrest Christopher J. Mehltretter, 23, of Grand Island. He was charged with third-degree assault, forcible touching, third-degree menacing, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree harassment, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The victim was treated at a local hospital for her injuries.
Mehltretter was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center without bail.
