Ronald Parker, 47, of Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, was killed at about 1:50 p.m. Sunday when his SUV flipped and ended up lodged on a guardrail on the southbound Niagara Thruway near the Whitehaven Road exit on Grand Island.
State Trooper Kevin Malicki said Parker apparently tried to slow down in traffic and steered onto the right shoulder to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him, then overcorrected.
Parker was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Traffic was diverted for about 90 minutes.
