An 86-year-old Grand Island man seriously injured in a pair of head-on
crashes on the Niagara Thruway in October died Monday in Erie County Medical
Center, authorities said today.
Raymond Zoldowski was involved in the two accidents while driving the wrong
way on the southbound Niagara Thruway in the Town of Tonawanda, just south of
the south Grand Island Bridge, State Police reported.
His vehicle struck one vehicle head-on, then careened into the path of a
second vehicle just seconds later, at about 12:50 p.m. Oct. 21, according to
State Police reports.
