National Pearl Harbor Rememberance Day - December 2015

Supervisor Mary Cooke and VFW Commander Christian Eshelman

   A service for National Pearl Harbor Rememberance Day was held at the Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post #9249 on Monday, December 7th. VFW Commander Christian Eshelman was master of ceremonies, Dan McMahon gave the benediction and Supervisor Mary Cooke spoke of stories of survivors. The ceremony was followed by a luncheon for veterans in the Post.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Service - December 2015

   National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is Monday, December 7th. A ceremony will be held at the Grand Island VFW Post 9249, 2121 Grand Island Blvd. at 12 noon.

VFW Auxiliary Turkey Sandwich Dinner - November 2015

    The Charles N. DeGlopper Post #9429 Auxiliary, 2121 Grand Island Blvd. is hosting a Hot Turkey Sandwich dinner on Saturday, November 14th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $6 or $5 (early bird 4-5pm), and includes hot turkey sandwich, gravy, cranberry sauce, baby carrots and chips. Bring a non-perishable food item and get a FREE dessert. There will be 50/50 raffles and a lottery tree. Proceeds will benefit the GI Neighbor Foundation & WNY Foodbank.

VFW Post 9249 Open House - November 2015

   The Grand Island VFW Post 9249, Charles N DeGlopper Memorial cordially invites Veterans, family and friends to a Veterans Day open house Wednesday, November 11th, 2015. The post will be providing lunch and dinner and offering any Veteran with a Thank-A-Vet card or Veteran stamped drivers' license free beer and well drinks. All guests that day will enjoy half priced drinks. Please show your support for Veterans by attending the Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at Charles N DeGlopper Memorial Park located at the intersection of Grand Island Boulevard and Baseline Road. Then the American Flag Retirement Ceremony at Martin's Fantasy Island parking lot at 5:00 PM. This is a Tribute to our Veterans and the United States Flag. The VFW post is located at 2121 Grand Island Blvd. across from Tops Express.

VFW Auxiliary Spaghetti Dinner - October 2015

    The Charles N. DeGlopper Post #9429 Auxiliary, 2121 Grand Island Blvd. is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, October 24th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $7 or $6 (early bird 4-5pm), and include all you can eat pasta, one meatball, bread, salad, coffee and dessert. There will be 50/50 raffles. Proceeds will benefit the VFW Auxiliary program; Cancer Aid & Research in memory of Donna Briggs.

VFW Independence Day Open House

   The annual Independence Day VFW Post 9249 Open House is on Saturday, July 4th at 2121 Grand Island Blvd. The event begins after the Parade and ends around 6:00 p.m. There are eight food trucks including one with hot dogs, hamburgers and sausages. Pre sale tickets are available 11:00am daily.

Chiavetta's Chicken Dinner at VFW - May 2015

    The VFW Post #9249, 2121 Grand Island Blvd. will be hosting their 4th Annual Chicken Dinners on Wednesdays, May 27th and June 3rd from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Take-Out or Dine under the Pavilion. Pre-sale tickets available and encouraged, stop in or call 773-6343. Dinner price is $9.00 and includes; Chicken, Salad, Potato Salad, Dinner Roll and butter.
