WRHOA SPRING NEWSLETTER
The
Board of Directors of the West River Homeowners Association held their meeting
on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in the Town Library Conference Room. Shown
below are items covered at the meeting.
Marilyn
Mazza’s Treasurer’s report showed a year end bank balance of $7181.26.
The bank balance rose $288.26 over last year because Mike McDonough
continues to cover our newsletter mailing costs.
Membership:
Linda
Stewart reported that 128 people were paid up members of WRHOA as of 4/15/10 for
2010. Please see attached 2010
membership list and if your name does not appear please send Linda
Stewart at 1573 West River Road a check made out to the WRHOA for either $10
for a one year membership or $25 for a 3 year membership.
Many people haven’t returned from Florida yet and when they return we
expect to best last years membership of 162 versus our data base of 300
families.
Cell Phone
Tower:
Dick
& Kathy Garlapow made a presentation regarding the Fix Road cell phone tower
installation. There are issues that
the affected residents voiced at the Town Board public hearing which the WRHOA
board agreed to help resolve.
Summer
Activities:
Linda
& Reed Stewart are hosting another West River Music Fest on 6/12/09 (see
flier )
Adopt-a-Highway:
Jacob Kreutz, the Adopt-a-Highway Chairman for 2010, indicated that the spring clean up would be 5/08/10 at 10:00 AM, with volunteers meeting at the Whitehaven Overlook.
Grass
Mowing:
Bob Helenbrook reported that the DOT has agreed for safety reasons to mow 4 times this year, but as they did last fall will only cut 12 feet (one pass) along the parkway and west of the service road. Senator Antoine Thompson has agreed to put Bob Helenbrook on his grass cutting committee that will meet after the NYS budget is passed. Bob is also exploring other grass cutting options
WRHOA Dinner Meeting:
This year WRHOA celebrates it’s 26th anniversary. This year our annual dinner meeting will be held at the Buffalo Launch Club.
Transfer of
Ownership of the West River Service Road from NYS to Town:
The service road ownership has not been completely turned over to the Town of Grand Island from NYS yet as there remain a few legal issues, however, Grand Island still plowed the road during the 2009 -2010 winter season.
Brush
Clearing:
Brush
clearing permits can be obtained by calling Beaver Island Park office at
773-4150. They are presently not
issuing permits. No permits are
issued in summer because of bird nesting season. They
will begin issuing permits again starting in October.
