Soup Night at VFW - Dec. 2010

   The Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post 9249, 2121 Grand Island Blvd. will host an all you can eat soup night from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, January 29th. Eat in or take out. Early bird dining is from 4-5 p.m. $7.00 includes a dessert of your choice. Portion of proceeds will go to Relay for Life.

Hot Turkey Sandwich Dinner at VFW Benefits Relay For Life - Nov. 2010

    Hot Turkey Sandwich SAT. NOV 20th The Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post 9249 Ladies Auxiliary will host a Hot Turkey Sandwich Dinner from 4-7 p.m. or till sold out on Saturday, November 20th. The VFW members will donate a portion of the proceeds to Relay For Life.
Cost: Per Plate $6.00 or $7.00 for Take Out
Early Bird (4-5pm) $5.50
   Dinner includes Open Face Hot Turkey Sandwhich & Gravy with Vegetables and Cranberry sauce, Free Dessert with a non-perishable food for donation

VFW Ladies To Host Chili Cook-off - Sept. 2010

   The Ladies Auxiliary will host their annual Chili cook-off on Saturday, October 16th from 3-7 p.m. Register at the VFW Post anytime from now to 3 p.m. the day of event. Registration fee is $10.00. Prize monies will be awarded; $100 first place, $50 second place, $25 third place. Food, raffles, kids activities, and music for all.


VFW To Sponsor Octoberfest - Sept. 2010

   An Octoberfest sponsored by the DeGlopper Memorial Post 9249 VFW will be held at the VFW, 2121 Grand Island Blvd. from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010. The event features German food, beer and music (50/50 split). Proceeds will help a needy comrade, Past Commander Tom Collins, who can use a helping hand. Come join the fun and help a comrade in need.


VFW To Sponsor 911 Memorial Service - Sept. 2010

    The Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial Post #9249 VFW will hold a Memorial Service at the Flag Pole (2121 GI Blvd.) on Saturday, September 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. The Service is held in memory of the Victims of the attack on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and Flight 93 on September 11, 2001. Participating Units are; the Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper (MOH) Memorial Post 9249 VFW, Grand Island DAV Chapter #168, American Legion Post 1346, and Grand Island Fire Co. "We pray for and support our Troops serving our Nation." "We urge the Citizens of Grand Island to attend this Memorial Service. Guest Speaker, Town Supervisor; Mr. Peter McMahon." A Rededication of the Wall of Honor will be inside of the Post.

VFW Independence Day Picnic Tickets On Sale - June 2010

    Presale tickets are now on sale at the VFW Post 9249, 2121 Grand Island Blvd. after 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday and after 12 p.m. on Sundays for the annual VFW Independence Day Picnic scheduled for Saturday, July 3, 2010. Tickets are $0.50 each in blocks of 20 for $10.
   The VFW Post 9249's Independence Day Picnic and open house will be held immediately after the town's (July 3rd) 9:30 a.m. parade. The day will include clams, corn, hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian sausage, beer and soft drinks and music, as well as children's events and a children's midway of games. Food and beverages will be by pre-purchased ticket only. Numerous ticket booths will be set up throughout the area and sufficient staffing is planned. This is a real All-Island reunion and the place to meet friends from here and those who are in town for the holiday. County VFW Elects Daniel McMahon Commander - May 2010

    The 76th Annual Convention of the Erie County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars concluded Sunday afternoon, May 16, 2009, with the installation of officers of the VFW and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The combined ceremony was held at the Hamburg Township Post 1419, Hamburg, NY. County officers from the Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post 9249 installed are Commander Daniel McMahon, Quartermaster Richard A. Lozo, Sr., Trustee Kelly Carrigg and Ladies Auxiliary member, Sr. Vice President Susanne McMahon.
    The Convention began Saturday morning, May 15 with the presentation of awards to Posts for their outstanding membership drives, Iraq/Afghanistan membership trophy for recruiting and the Joe Kreuzer Memorial trophy for recruiting the most Viet Nam era Veterans. This was followed by the opening business session and a banquet Saturday evening that honored outgoing Erie County Council VFW Commander Lance Becker and outgoing County Council Ladies Auxiliary President Ann Ferguson, for their hard work this past year. Sunday’s session opened with a tribute to the deceased members of the 34 VFW Posts in Erie County. Chaplain Raymond Peterson read the roll of Veterans who had passed away during the past year. Sunday’s business sessions concluded the convention. The newly elected officers will assume their new duties following the installation of the next Department of New York VFW Commander in June.

   Members of the Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post 9249 Men's Auxiliary will host a fish dinner from 4 p.m. until gone on Friday, April 2 at the Post. Cost is $8 and includes baked or beer battered fish, fries, cole slaw and macaroni salad. Desserts will be available and the event features raffles. 90th Birthday Party For Veteran Joseph J. Stefaniak - Feb. 2010

    WWII D-Day and Battle of the Bulge Paratrooper Veteran of the 82d and the 17th Airborne Divisions, Serving in " G " Co. 507th Parachute Regiment, Joseph J. Stefaniak will turn 90 on the 15th of February. His Comrades at the Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper ( MOH ) Memorial Post 9249, Veterans of Foreign Wars will wish him a " Happy Birthday "on Sunday afternoon, February 14th at the Post Clubrooms. Members and Ladies and Mens Auxiliaries are proud to have the Honor of greeting " Little Joe " on this momentous occasion and wish him " STO LAT " ! May he be here for his 100th.



VFW Winter Chowder Sale - Feb. 2010

   The Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post 9249 will hold a chowder sale at the Post 2121 Grand Island Blvd., Grand Island, NY. to benefit the members in need. The Winter Chowder Sale Fund Raiser and Baked Goods Sale will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM or until gone. Eat in or taker out.
