Class of 1980 - 30th Reunion - April 15, 2010 UPDATE
Members of the Class of 1980 will be celebrating their 30th Class Reunion July 4th Weekend.

The festivities are as follows:
Friday, July 2nd – Golf Outing
Friday Evening Ice Breaker at Grand Island Moose Lodge
Saturday, July 3rd – House Party
Sunday July 4th Family Picnic at Beaver Island.

Class of '80 Thirtieth Reunion - Plans To Be Made for 2010 Event
Michele (Kaczmarek) Rathmann has started the ball rolling for the 30 yr reunion of the Grand Island High School Class of 1980. Event will be held in July. Dates have yet to be finalized. Those interested in being on the planning committee are asked to contact Michele at ApkMajic62@aol.com or on Facebook. Also, Michele is asking all classmates to send their most recent email and/or snail mail (or both) for the directory as well as getting the information to them.

   The Grand Island High School Class of 1980's twenty-fifth reunion was held July 1-2, 2005 and has been deemed a huge success. The Friday evening icebreaker was held at the Moose Lodge on Grand Island Blvd. and the reunion dinner was enjoyed at River Oaks Clubhouse. According to the committee, the Friday night gathering drew a lot more classmates than were expected. "Saturday was even better with delicious food stations and our own classmate, Chris Gibson, providing the music by bringing in his band, "High Speed Chase," from New York City and entertaining us all," said Nancy Hoover Anderson. Classmates came in from Florida, California, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Nancy is planning a get-together on Friday, July 1st, the night before the Reunion dinner. We are going to meet at the following location:

It is located next door to KOA Campground. Nothing fancy, everyone buys their own drinks, which are reasonably priced. She is looking for volunteers to bring a snack or appetizer.

   If you have not heard by now, the Classmates of 1980 are gathering for a 25th reunion on July 2, 2005. If you have not been contacted or have not read previous news articles or have not read it on the internet, please promptly call Nancy Hoover Anderson at 773-1619 (evening) or 773-3600 (day) for details.
   A dinner with food stations is scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2005 at River Oaks with a Chris Gibson and his band High Speed Chase providing the music entertainment. Cover tunes and some of their own original music!
   Tickets for Saturday are $25.00 and you can mail a check, payable to Class of 1980, to Nancy at 1607 Love Road, Grand Island, NY. Please e-mail your bio, (a/k/a updated life details) to Vicki Link Harnden at harnden@adelphia.net or fax your bio to Nancy Hoover Anderson at 773-4750. We need the bios faxed, mailed or e-mailed ASAP. If you are a relative of someone who graduated in 1980, please pass this information on to them. Class of 1980 Reunion Update - April 21, 2005
   Class of 1980 reunion committee members Mary Frank, Lori Jankowiak, Vicki (Link) Harnden, Nancy (Hoover) Anderson and Cyndi (Murray) Booker, who met Sunday, April 17, 2005, have announced that River Oaks is reserved for Saturday night, July 2nd at 6:00 p.m. An electronic account (PAYPAL or ProPay) will be set up for reunion dinner reservations.
   "We are in the information collecting stage, needing to get the message out to everyone that we can about our reunion plans, and we would like to get some updates, too," a spokesman from the group said this week. "Pattiann (Davern) King, Vicki, and Lori are going to be looking up classmates using our directory from 2000," she said. Those with any addresses are asked to send them to Cynthia (Murray) Booker at cbooker653@adelphia.net
   "Vicki (Link) Harnden will be preparing an updated directory, so please send her an update of what you've been up to."
   Nancy (Hoover) Anderson will be handling communications to the area papers and will also be in contact with Teddy Linenfelser, who manages the 1980 website (www.isledegrande.com/classof1980.htm)
   The Class of 1980 is hoping to put a float together on the Friday before (July 1) to enter in the Grand Island Independence Day Parade, and is also planning for a picnic on Sunday at Beaver Island. A golf outing may also be in the works for Sunday. Mike McGuire is working on it. Those interested in joining the golf outing are asked to let the committee know.

Class of '80 Announces Planning Meeting And Location For 25th Reunion
   The Grand Island High School Class of 1980 will get together at the Village Inn 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005 for the purpose of planning a 25-year class reunion. All 1980 classmates are encouraged to attend and bring some ideas for having a fun time!
   The committee announced this week that the reunion will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005 at River Oaks.

Interested members of the GIHS Class of 1980 who would like to be part of a 25th Reunion planning committee, are asked to email Cynthia (Murray) Booker at cbooker653@adelphia.net
