Louis C. Niro Jr. 62, Sunset Drive, passed away March 24, 1998 at home. He recently retired from E. I. Dupont, Tonawanda Plant. He will be missed by his three children, Kathie Cross, Louis III and Patrick; his grandchildren and long-time companion Lee Leach and her son, Joe.

Johanna (Frentz) Kurkowski died August 16, 1977. Born on Grand Island July 19, 1889. Married to Fred Kurkowski in 1909, moved to Lewiston where they owned a peach farm. Johanna became a patient in the Grand Island Nursing Home and was the first pataient to cut the ribbon when it opened 4 yaers before. Sister of Rosetta Wagner, aunt of Kenneth Wagner, and Gertrude Wilson of Grand Island and Herb Gannon of West Seneca.
Dorothy "Dodie" Edwards, May 1976, born at her great uncle's farm (George Pierce) on West River Road. Dodie and her husband, Norman lived on Alt Blvd. from 1948 to 1956. They moved to Kenmore but missed the Island and returned in 1965 and resided on East River Road until passing.
