Floyd B. Anderson, 66, of Chandler, AZ, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2009. Born in Grand Island, NY on January 30, 1942, Floyd grew up an avid sports enthusiast. He received varsity letters in both baseball and football at Riverside High School. Floyd served his country with honor in the United States Army and was awarded a Purple Heart for combat wounds sustained in Vietnam. When he returned home after military duty, he met Judith Ellen MacDonald, the love of his life, whom he married on June 15, 1974. In 1978 Floyd and family moved to Phoenix, AZ to live out their dream of starting a restaurant. A respected businessman, Floyd was the proud founder (along with his co-founder wife, Judith) and CEO of Native New Yorker Franchising, Inc, that grew to flourish from one location to 25. When health issues led Floyd to retire in July 2008, he was confident that his dream of a business built on honesty, loyalty, and solid partnerships would now be carried out by his daughters. Floyd's contributions to the Valley are innumerable. His love of sports never waned and he was a proud sponsor of the Phoenix Suns and he was a NASCAR devotee. His true enjoyments in life, however, were his wife, children and 10 beautiful grandchildren….and Disneyland! Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Judith Anderson; four daughters, Debbie O'Neill, Linda Tritschler, Sherri Lind, and Jami Lee; brother, Lowell Anderson; ten precious grandchildren, Ashley and Chelsy O'Neill, Tyler and Katelyn Tritschler, Samantha, Emily, and Sydney Lind, and Judy, Patrick, and Jordan Lee; and his sons-in-law, Thomas O'Neill, Joseph Tritschler, David Lind, and Shawn Murphy. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn Anderson. Floyd will forever be our best friend, greatest confidant, and cherished companion. Memories of a life well lived will remain in our hearts as his legacy lives on. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Valley (www.hov.gov) in Floyd's honor are greatly appreciated.
