This garter snake appears to be smelling the coltsfoot that is currently blooming in large patches. Top right shows a large flock of ducks taking flight and skimming over the surface just off the southern shore of Beaver Island. Bottom left is of the Beaver Island Shoreline - just a nice "up-the-shore" shot of Beaver Island. Bottom right shows the driftwood that collects along the southern shore of Beaver Island and builds up at the high water/wave line.

Photo #1 - Alder Strobiles and Catkins: Alder trees have both little cones (Female flowers) and Catkins (Male Flowers) that are preserved throughout the winter. These trees are located along Woods Creek in Buckhorn.
Photo #2 - The Nature Center at Beaver Island: This structure looks great with the snow all around it.
Photo #3 - Buffalo Launch Club Light House en sepia: With the coal power plant in the background and use of sepia effect this is a striking view of the light house in the winter.
Photo #4 - BLC Light House: A nice winter view of the structure.
Photo #5 - Buckhorn wood duck box. A few years ago a number of wood duck nesting boxes were placed throughout buckhorn's marsh area and along Wood's Creek.
Photo #6 - WBEN: A nice sepia effect photo of this landmark building.

These hoar frost photos were taken by Nathan Cook on Wednesday morning, February 2, 2005 after early morning fog turned into ice crystals which only lasted a matter of an hour or so. The scenes are behind the deSignet Jewelry building on Whitehaven Road.

These photos were shot by Christopher Hamm of Ransom Road, a senior at Canisius High School who took them in the fall of 2004 for his photography class. The bridge photo was taken while walking on the bike path along the side of the bridge. "Branches Of Lightning" was taken alongside East River Road. The cross is located on St. Stephen's Church property. Also shown is the River Oaks Marina, and the South Grand Island Bridge.
