The Grand Island Rod & Gun Club's Tractor Pulls went off without a hitch and people from on and off the Island enjoyed both days of ongoing events.
Members of the Gun Club on Whitehaven Road report that their first attempt at running such an event has been successful, despite dark skies and minor rain showers. Chairman Kathy Barton reported that 525 people paid admission at the gate over the two-day event. The Club completely sold out Saturday's Chicken BBQ dinner, which was under the direction of Islander Dick Smith Sr. The crowd Saturday evening got into the swing of the "West of the Mark" band and there is a good chance they will be brought back next year.
Results will be posted as they become available.
The following Grand Island businesses gave generously to the Chinese Auction: LDC Construction, Double D Construction, Cozy Landscaping Service, Charter One Bank, Colonial Liquor, Sound Choice Audio, Monro/Muffler/Brake, McMahon's Restaurant, Maria's Hallmark, Napa Auto Parts, Wheelhouse Marine, HSBC Bank, Adrian's Custard & Beef, Island Pools, Tops, Holiday Inn, American Document Destruction Services, Starline USA, Anchor Marine, Blue Water, Village Inn, Grand Island Quality Cleaners, Pizza Hut, Town Cafe, Picasso's Pizza, Fuccillo Chevrolet, Flower A Day Florist, Rose Liquor, VFW Post 9249, Loyal Order of the Moose #180, Grand Island Highway Dept., X-Press Cleaners, Fox 29, Grand Island Sales & Service, Tully Products, West Island Trucking, Island Tanning, Diversified Management Services.
