you kids? How about Reality Cafe? Located in Nike Base Park, 3278 Whitehaven Road, Reality Cafe is town sponsored and designed for students in 9th grade through first year college and is open Thursday 6-8 p.m.,
Friday and Sat. 6-10 p.m. Activities include a pool table, air hockey, foosball, skate ramps, music, video games, art supplies and board games. Low cost snacks are available and adult chaperones are on the premises at all times. Call 773-9685 for information.

Teen Center Appreciates Pizza Hut Pizza - 2008

Chamber of Commerce member Pizza Hut recently donated pizzas to the Grand Island teen center, Reality Cafe, much appreciated by the teens and adult supervisors.
This free teen center for Grand Island residents is located on the grounds of the Nike Base, 3278 Whitehaven Road. It is based on a coffee house theme and is open Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. and most Friday and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. from September through August. The cafe, open to youth from ninth to twelfth grade, is a drug- and alcohol-free environment with a zero tolerance policy. Activities include billiards, board games, music and video games, and skate ramps (during cafe hours only). Experienced staff is available to provide support and assistance to the teens. Adult volunteers are always needed to chaperone. Convenient 2-hour shifts are available and any help is appreciated. A "Gun Safety & Awareness" Seminar will be held 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2002 in the Grand Island High School cafeteria, free of charge. The one-evening seminar is being offered by the Grand Island Recreation Department, Reality Cafe Teen Center and the Grand Island School District in a joint effort with the town, school, New York State Police, Erie County Sheriffs and Grand Island Police. Open to all students and parents, the focus is on SAFETY!
To Reality Cafe' Picnic
Town sponsored Reality Cafe', 3278 Whitehaven Road, will host a picnic from 6:30-11 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2001 for all ninth grade students. "This is an excellent time for you to get acquainted with the Cafe' and its staff," a spokesman for Reality Cafe' said this week, adding that hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

  The doors of Reality Cafe' were opened to
eighth graders Friday,
June 15, to introduce the facility to those who will be new high schoolers,
come September.
Recreation Leader Dolly D'Orazio was on hand to welcome the newcomers and
provide the picnic dinner of hot dogs, chips and pop for them. However, the
visitors did the cooking. Shown with Mrs. D'Orazio are Autumn Asher, Jake

A "Get to Know Reality Cafe" picnic for eighth grade
students will be held at Reality Cafe' in Nike Base Park, Whitehaven Road,
from 6-11:30 p.m. Friday, June 15. Parents are invited to meet the staff from
6-7:30 p.m. The eighth grade class of 2001 is invited to bring their friends,
experience Reality Cafe' for themselves, and enjoy good food and fun. For

Reality Cafe' volunteers were recognized last
Friday evening (Mar. 30, 2001) at an open house at Reality Cafe' in Nike
Base Park. Many volunteers were honored for their services as chaperones and
in other capacities. Refreshments were served
and lots of socializing took place. The high school's dance scheduled the
same night kept many of the young people from the event, but the evening was
enjoyed by all the attendees.
Happy 7th anniversary to Reality Cafe, our town sponsored club designed for students in 9th grade through first year college. The celebration will be held Friday, March 30 from 7-9 p.m. at the Nike Base, 3278 Whitehaven Road (near West River Road) and cake and refreshments will be served and recognition of Realty Cafe volunteers will be made at 8 p.m. A special invitation is extended for present and past cafe "regular" as well as the entire community.
