These are just a few of numerous photos taken at the July 4th, 2002 parade. All will be posted here as time permits!!
Teddy's Islettes reunion unit will line up at Super Gas, 2024 GI Blvd. Please be there before 8:30 a.m. We can not park cars where we line up so you will need to be dropped off or park and walk to the point of our lineup. Our unit is one of the first in the parade which will start immediately after the running race which begins at 9 a.m.
From Super Gas to Baseline where we will turn and end is not a very long route. The parade (not the route) will be much longer than other years according to Recreation Director Linda Tufillaro. Girls who have volunteered young girls to march in vintage costume - you are responsible for these children at the end of the parade. You must be with them until they are met by a parent if they aren't your own children.
Please wear the short sports socks and all white sneakers.
We will not wear belts with the red shorts.
Shirts are to be tucked into shorts. For bigger girls, you may blouse the shirt over the waist band of the shorts.
Shirts have been held up. If in in time, they'll be shipped - otherwise call me 773-2436 (or 773-6789 work) for instructions to pick up when you reach the Island.
Shirts, which must be picked up before July 3rd (unless you aren't in town until then!), will be at my office, 1871 Whitehaven between DeSignet jewelry store and Hairitage Hair Salon. Please be cooperative about getting your shirt before July 3rd - at this point I will not be home the evening of July 3rd.
Batons are to have red caps on them - I have those if you didn't get them yet but they take time to put on and should be taken care of before July 3rd.
We will march past the reviewing stand by the firehall and around the corner to the firehall. Let your families know where you plan to meet them. Think ahead about your vehicles. Only Fire Co. vehicles are allowed to park in the firehall lot.
Saturday practice begins at 9 a.m.
Check the practice schedule (June 21-22, 28-29 and July 1-2 - Sidway School) and get to several practices. Please do not break out of our unit until I give a drum halt. Keep an eye on the website for last minute details.

Practice went well as usual on Friday night (Jan. 18, 2002) and the Saturday practices (2 so far) are really great as there's plenty of room for everyone to practice double to single line and back. The routine really looks outstanding considering we have several girls who have only come out to practice 2-3 times. New Teddy's Islettes pictures have been added below.
December 20, 2001...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Our Teddy's Islettes Reunion continues to grow. At this point 50 former members have expressed interest in marching with us in the Sesquicentennial/July 4th parade in 2002. A video of the routine will be offered immediately after the holidays. For those living in the area, here is the January 2002 practice schedule.
Saturday practices will be held 12:30 p.m., (about 2 hours) January 5, 12, and 26 in the Middle School gym, 1100 Ransom Road. Enter the Middle School and go to your left. PLEASE WEAR SNEAKERS. The routine will be taught at a beginner pace, and all former members of Teddy's Islettes are welcome.
Friday practices will be held 6:30-8:15(?) p.m. on January 4, 2001 and Friday, January 18. Anyone who will be attending a Friday practice for the first time, please be there by 6:30 p.m. and please let Teddy know that you are coming.
Attending a practice for the first time??? Let me know if you will need to borrow a baton. Those still intending to order a new baton should send me their check, size and home address as soon as possible (2098 Ferry Road).
If you have not received a copy of the routine, let me know. Please keep watching the Teddy's Islettes Reunion web page at IsledeGrande.com. I've added a new section to the photos. Individual pictures will be added at the bottom of this page with your name, if you will email them to me. Take a look!

January 10, 2002...The Teddy's Islettes Reunion group, first announced in September 2001, has continued to grow at every practice. Kathy Pedlow Ziemer, a charter member of Teddy's Islettes when the majorette corps was formed in 1961, attended practice for the first time Saturday. Also twirling with the group from that original class of baton twirlers in '61 is Sonja Miller Hill.
Others who joined the practice this past Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) in the Connor Middle School gym were Julie Linenfelser Dee, Kathy Snelling Milkus, Dawn Gworek Becker and Sue Anstett.
Among those who have been practicing together since the reunion's inseption are Debbie and Cindy Bleich, Nancy Sasala Aydelotte, Valerie Buckley Swain, Marcia Witte Robison, Cheryl Goris Kloesz, Karen Macumber Scalise, Diane Gollwitzer Doane, Sally Gollwitzer Goris, Danielle Soluri, Cindy Birke Gorko, Lynn Gaydica Wuertzer, Diane Gaydica, Susan Smyth Hahn, Amy Blundell, Kim Thaler, and Barbara Roehrig. Many twirlers from out of town, as far away as China(!), have indicated interest in being a part of the marching unit, which will appear in the Grand Island Sesquicentennial/Independence Day Parade.
Plans are for most of the women to twirl batons with accompaniment of a drum line. Teddy Linenfelser, teacher/director of Teddy's Islettes which marched for the last summer in 1987, announced that her former advanced twirlers will be showcased with a fire baton performance.
Former members interested in joining the group are always welcome, said Mrs. Linenfelser. "Basic instructions are gone over slowly at each practice to accommodate newcomers," she said.
Last practice Before Christmas
Teddy's Islettes Reunion practice will take place 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2001 at Miss Cathy's Dance Studio (2488 Grand Island Blvd.).
Saturday practices will begin in January 2002. Twirlers interested in the Saturday practice are asked to contact Teddy immediately so that time and date may be forwarded.
We are trying to contact as many former members of T.I. as possible so that no one will be dissappointed in not being notified for the July 4/Sesquicentennial parade next summer. Among those we are trying to contact are Kim Duermeyer, Shannon Murdock, Wendy Warmus, Holly Sharon, Jennifer Galbo (Przybylski), Jennifer and Karen Samrany, Pat and Lisa Rodriguez and Kathy and Janice Harris. Can you help?
At the bottom of the page, just below the photos, I will be adding links to individual pictures. Be sure to send my your favorite! Baton Twirlers to Practice Friday Night

Latest to join the class were Susan Smyth Hahn, Amy Blundell, Kim Thaler and Barbara Roehrig. Saturday practices will be set up for those unable to attend on Fridays.
