   The Grand Island Wrestling club had a great showing on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the Lew-Port Youth Wrestling Tournament. All the boys worked hard in their divisions. The club brought home many trophies. Grand Island Wrestling Club Registration - 2006
   Grand Island Wrestling Club will hold registration from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006 in the Grand Island High School upper gym. January 3, 2007 is the start date. Watch for further details.

Wrestling Club Competes In Alden Brawl, Belt Tournament - March 2006

   The Grand Island Youth Wrestling Club competed in The Alden Brawl for the Belt Tournament on Sunday, March 26. This tournament had over 400 competitors with 125 of them coming from all over the country. Wrestling Club Competes In P.A.B.A. Tournament - February 2006

   The Grand Island Youth Wrestling Club competed in the February 25th P.A.B.A. Wrestling Tournament at Starpoint High School. The Island club took 5th place overall out of 12 clubs. Wrestling Club Enters Niagara Wheatfield Tournament - February 2006

   The Grand Island Youth Wrestling Club competed in the Niagara Wheatfield Tournament on February 12, 2006. The Club took home two 2nd places, five 3rd places, and two 4th places. Wrestling Club Enters Ken-Ton Jaguars Youth Tournament - February 2006

   Nineteen boys from the Grand Island Wrestling Club competed on Sunday, February 5th at the Ken-Ton Jaguars Youth Tournament. The club took home six 1st places, one 2nd place, three 3rd places, and four 4th places. Again, an excellent job by all the boys! The club will be competing next week at Niagara Wheatfield. Good luck to all the competitors!

   Twenty-four boys from the Grand Island Wrestling Club competed in the Lew-Port Youth Wrestling tournament on January 30th. For many of these wrestlers, this was their first tournament, and all did an excellent job. Congratulations boys! Wrestling Club Competes At Pioneer, NY. Tourney - 2006

Grand Island Wrestling Club - Not Too Late To Join - 2005
   The Grand Island Wrestling Club is underway, and it is not too late to sign up. A few openings are still available. The club will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 12 in the High School upper gym.




Grand Island Wrestling Club Registration - 2005
    The Grand Island Wrestling Club, beginning its eighth year, is announcing club registration. Training will be in Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman techniques. Click GI Wrestling Club for complete information.




Grand Island Wrestling Club Registration - 2004
   The Grand Island Wrestling Club will hold registration at the end of November 2005 with December 5 as the start date. Practices will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Further information will be posted soon.




Wrestling Club Finishes Great Season - 2005

   Members of the Grand Island Wrestling Club finished out the season at their last tournament held by the T-N-T River Rats Wrestling Club on April 9, 2005 with great results. Grand Island had a great season this year with all the kids working very hard. Representing the club and shown above (left) were Joe Verdi, JT Busch, Chris Foster, Anthony Verdi, Tony Miosi, TJ Acker; (back) Coach Anthony Verdi, Max Oursler, Michael Vandusen, Anthony Genova, Peter Aronica, Korey Bennett, and Coach Nick Rastelli.




Wrestling Club Wins Five Trophies At Recent Tournament - 2005

   The Grand Island Wrestling Club had great success at the Pendleton Youth Tournament on February 26, 2005.    The Grand Island Wrestling Club competed at the Niagara Wheatfield Youth Wrestling Tournament February 13, 2005. Pictured are (left) T.J. Acker who placed 2nd and Anthony Verdi who placed 3rd. Wrestling Club Competes In Ken-Ton Jaguars Tournament - 2005

   The Grand Island Wrestling Club on February 6, 2005 competed and did very well at the Ken-Ton Jaguars Tournament. All the boys had very tough competition. Over 250 competitors participated at the tourney. The Club took home one 1st place, three 2nd places, four 3rd places, and two fourth places.

Wrestling Club Takes 2nd, 3rd, 4th - 2005

   Members of the Grand Island Wrestling Club got off to a good start at their first wrestling tournament of the season. The Baguba Wrestling club in Elma hosted the tournament on January 15, 2005. Representing the Grand Island Wrestling Club were (front left) Joe Chiaravalle and Joe Verdi; (back) Michael VanDusen, Anthony Verdi and Coach Anthony Verdi. Not pictured are T.J. Acker, Tony Miosi and Coaches Nick and Marty Rastelli. The Team took home one 2nd place, three 3rd places, and one 4th place.

Grand Island Wrestling Club Finishes Season - 2004
   Members of the Grand Island Wrestling Club finished out their season Saturday, March 27, 2004 at the 5th Annual Pembroke Tournament. Grand Island was well represented by Korey Bennet placing 4th, TJ Acker placing 2nd, Anthony Verdi placing 4th, Joey Verdi placing 3rd and Derek Stacy placing 4th. Scott Rogers and Jon Grenda rounded out the team with great matches.
   Team members who haven't turned in their wrestling singlet and head gear are asked to do so by dropping them off to Coach Johnston or Coach Carney at the middle school gym. Information for those interested in attending Judo to further their wrestling at Kin Tora with Coach Nick is available at www.geocities.com/kintora/kintora.html. Grand Island Wrestling Club News - 2004
   The Grand Island Wrestling Club had an impressive show at the Wrestling Tournament in Niagara Wheatfield on Sunday, February 15, 2004. Grand Island came away with two 1st place trophies by Joey Verdi and TJ Acker, three 2nd place trophies by Scott Rogers, Derek Stacey and Jake Britten and Dave Britten taking 4th. Nick Loevetro, Korey Bennett, Anthony Gugino and Lee Shuster rounded out the team and gave a tough challenge to their competition.
   Their next tournament will be held Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Pendleton.
   Club coaches are Nick Rastelli, Pat Lovetro, Dave Britten and Anthony Verdi. High School Varsity Coaches Henry Carney and Jeff Johnston are assisting. Coach Nick Rastelli is a former record holder for the Grand Island Wrestling team.

   Congratulations to the Grand Island Wrestling Club on a great job at the Alden Tournament on Sunday, February 8, 2004, taking home three 3rd place and three 4th place trophies. The club was represented by Nick Lovetro, Dave Britten, Jake Britten, Korey Bennett, Joey Verdi, Anthony Verdi, Derek Stacy, TJ Acker (not pictured), Evan Johnston, Scott Rogers (not pictured), Elijah Geis, Jesse Ishmael and Nathan Buncho (not pictured). The team is coached by Nick Rastelli (not pictured), Dave Britten, Anthony Verdi, Pat Lovetro and Jeff Johnston. The next tournament will be Sunday February 15th at Niagara Wheatfield.
