High School Wrestlers Place 2nd In National Tournament - 2007
Two Grand Island High School Wrestlers competed in the Gene Mills Eastern National Tournament in Baldwinsville, NY on April 28, 2007. Anthony Genova, a 9th grader at GIHS took 2nd in Cadet 140 lb. weight class. Lee Schuster, a GIHS 10th grader, took 2nd in Varsity 112 lb. weight class. Over 1500 wrestlers from across the Eastern United States entered the tournament.

These boys from that Grand Island Wrestling Club competed on Sunday, March 18 in the TNT River Rats Wrestling Tournament. They all did a great job. Grand Island Youth Wrestling Club News - March 2007

Members of the Grand Island Youth Wresting Club on Sunday, March 4, 2007 competed in The Alden Brawl for the Belt Tournament. This tournament brought in over 450 wrestlers from around the state and country. The boys did very well in their divisions. Pictured above front left Joe Verdi (2nd), Chris Foster, Back Anthony Verdi (4th), Tygue Busch (2nd), and Elliot Busch. Congratulations boys!

The Grand Island Youth Wresting Club competed at the Ken-Ton Youth Jaquars Tournament on Sunday, February 4, 2007. Seventeen members competed and the Island Club took 5th place overall out of 17 clubs competing. The Grand Island Wrestling Club had a great showing on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the Lew-Port Youth Wrestling Tournament. All the boys worked hard in their divisions. The club brought home many trophies. Members of the Grand Island Wrestling Club got their season off to a great start on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at their first tournament of the season at the Baguba Wrestling tournament. There were over 300 competitors at this tournament.
